Savouring the crazy | Klutch photographer | Vancouver family Photographer

Why is May and June such an overscheduled shitshow in elementary schools? It literally feels like every single missed activity throughout the year is scheduled in the last 40 days of school! From the PAC sponsored events to the "need parent helpers" EVERY FRICKEN DAY, and the field trips, parents drivers required please, appreciate your teachers week, and let's not forget to keep your wallets open folks because you're not done yet buying goodies etc. for your kids!

Today was what some people might call "their personal nightmare", being a parent helper on a school bus, at the beach, all day long with grade 3's. I was volunteered by Amara (second time she's done this). That was so kind of her.  Of course, I said yes but I literally begged her not to have to go on the school bus. She refused to appease me, it was kid leverage at it's finest... "Do you love mom, then you should go on the bus"!

The sad part is when your daughter offers up to sit beside you but then goes "Actually mom, I want Cam to sit with Kayla and me".  Yep, grade school rejection all over again!

The ride was rather uneventful (praise the Lord) and Centennial Beach was perfect, no rain, no wind!

Now the irony is I'm there to watch over the children, just like the other amazing parent helpers and guess who loses track of their own child. Yep, that's me! Awkward. Parent. Moment. And no this wasn't a way for me to "not be selected" next year, it's just I know my kid well and this one's never really lost...find the goodies, you'll find her!

I actually did savour the whole crazy day.  All of it!

My mini boss also requested (more like demand)that  I make a video like I did when I took her people to the aquarium!

Do you believe in signs? | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photograper

I know some of you will have a hard time believing this and that's ok but for us, this is very real.

Over the weekend we had a soccer game in Mission, Greg was out of town and I was on deck!   I thought it would be fun to make the day of it if we were heading out that far. Our last stop before heading home was Golden Ears Regional Park.  It was a well spent few hours, exploring the woods and hitting up the lake (which was FREEZING!) and by 5 pm we were home and prepping for a fresh week of school.

later that night, I sat down to edit my images from the day we had horsing around and as I was scrolling through some images of Amara on top of a HUGE dead old growth tree  I stopped and thought, well that looks odd?? Really odd?  There were what appeared to be highlight bursts in her hair and on her arm. It was so dramatic I thought I must have batch edited them by accident and used a highlight brush or something.  when I looked a little further that would not be the case. The images were unedited and straight out of the camera. Untouched and shot as is.

I got shivers, like grow the hair back on my leg kind of shivers.  There is NO explanation of how these "orbs" would be formed and I mean that. There was no catch light, no reflective surfaces as I was in the tree stumptaking the photos.  My camera doesn't even have a flash and these images are right out of the camera.

The images were taken within seconds of one another. I never saw any light reflecting in my lens. I'm dumbfounded on how these would have been formed from "real life".

Here's the thing, if you've followed any of my past posts your aware that Amara lost her best friend Sophie to meningitis in kindergarten. This rocked her family, us and our community really hard. We miss her every day.

Being a believer in "signs", we've had quite a few butterfly and rays of light encounters since her passing (read about it here) and recently DIMES (finding them that is in strange places). Dimes seam to be what she gives to her own family all the time as a sign.

These "orbs" have no explanation that makes sence, other than I truly believe she is near us. She is with us. She hears us  and that gives us a huge sense of comfort.

Well that's not safe! | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photography

Our trampoline is a mess right now, no paddling, no net and a little rusted...so basically it's looks like everyone's trampoline from the eighties!  When guests are coming over I actually text the parents letting them know the condition of the tramp and if they give me the thumbs up I at least have some form documentation just in case!

Yesterday the girls had a friend over and while they played I decided to go have a shower before our "girls night out" with my daughters to our favourite sushi place.  When I exited my bathroom and walked into my bedroom to cover my mom body,  I could hear screaming that was well... not quite the norm!  It had a shrill of "holy fuck' it.

When I looked out the window from the second floor there they were, on the death trap with one more layer of Evil Coneval they'd added...DISH SOAP, fluffy slippery DISH SOAP!!

Well that' not safe! I thought.

I continued to get a well-needed support bra on and grab my camera. Document this moment first, deal with the situation second! So I said "welcome to the elevated 80's kids, don't break anything but if you do you can only blame yourselves!

Small risk, equals confidence (they all survived, Che' did get a kinked neck tho lol).
