Journal Entry No.36 | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photography

If I was born in the 70's (which I was) what old school teen song would I be belting out right now? That's fucking correct, I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW  by the one and only goddess of the 80's TIFFANY!

I did some alone time with my preteen yesterday and she was pan faced mortified by the whole thing.  I don't blame her tho,  the lack of lyric support on the karaoke track and my chest cold still hanging on (after a three-week unwelcome stay-BOO!) would have made the farm dogs bark if this was still Surrey 15 years ago!

So there were no Grammy awards handed out here but let be tell ya, that chicken vein was getting w-o-r-k-e-d!

I'm pretty sure I wanted to be her at one point!  But really the more concerning part of this image (from the 80's) is the tin foil reflectors, the slathered baby oil body parts and the fact that I was out there for probably 6 hours! well that explains the FINE LINES and the NOT so FINE LINES.

Eighties images, klutch photography,

BTW, YOU'RE WELCOME!! Memory lane here you go, I DARE you not to sing along!

A first for everything | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photographer

I bought this underwater casing for my Canon 5D mark 11 in July of this year to push my skill set (and apparently to push my fear level as well because I'm the shitest swimmer alive!).  I was nudged to check this brand and style out by a friend and it falls in the middle of the road for pricing, so not cheap and not a "million dollar bills ya'll" either.

This past week was the first time I got to really test drive it in Mexico (the pool only as the ocean was rough and full of coral, I can't even imagine what a gong show that would have turned into if I even attempted it)

The learning curve is so/so, if I wasn't so fucking awkward in the water It may have gone smoother or if I wasn't so concerned about looking like a raccoon (because I had my eyebrows on and my mascara on and my eyeliner on.  People don't judge, when your over 40 and you plucked the shit out of your eyebrows in the 90's because thin eyebrows were the style you would understand! it's a fucking slippery slope, you can't have eyebrows on and not have your eye's on...it just doesn't work!). Anyways, I slapped on some goggles, which also are awkward and make you look redic but it's all for a good shot right?! Luckily the pool was not over my head or else I would have had to use a snorkel and my make shift buoyancy belt made from a water noodle and an old strap from a bag (total MacGyver move) - hahahah, that would have been a sight!

I'm glad I finally got to break it in and the results are interesting. Well kids always make everything more interesting in my opinion. I love the "different world look" the underwater images have, there's a a first for everything and I'm pretty sure there will be a second! If I drown in the next year you know what happened!

A real vision!  Here's my underwater selfie, lol! In looking at this image now I'm pretty sure I had my goggles on upside down. That would explain how uncomfortable they were.

My interview with Dana Goldstein of chic flicks | Klutch photography | Vancouver family Photographer

Thank you, Dana, for taking the time to interview me on your new Girl Crush feature on your blog! It was an honour!

Dana and I go way back to kindergarten days here in Surrey BC.  She's a true trailblazer in her business, funny as fuck, and a good solid person!  She's a video goddess that wants women (and men) to get in front of their businesses, be authentic, and showcase their offerings!

Check out  Dana Goldstein at chic flicks website, or here on her facebook page Chic flicks she does not disappoint!

For her entire Girl Crush post on myself and others click here. She asks me a few questions about real life random goddess and shockingly enough we don't talk shop!  My love for photography is obvious but learning about my first kiss, now that's juicy!

Here's my video interview with Dana of Chic Flicks...
