Just a day | klutch Photography | Vancouver family photographer

we aww and ohh at the far away caribbean beaches, we can't help it, their so warm and blue.

the classic - we want what we can't have, i suppose.

but when we really step back, what would the travelers from these far away places say about our green, tide stretched out wonders, we have in surrey and ladner. would they be awe struck with how alive it is or the warmth of the wading puddles.  would they comb our dusty sand lined shores for things to smuggle in their suitcases?

does the smell of salt and seaweed make them crave fish and chips and do those large evergreens and mountains make them wish they could see the rain that produced that lushness in the winter?

would they be scared when the tide roars in at an inch per second, which still makes me feel uneasy btw.

i think they would.

i think our beaches are just as devine & perfect in our own canadian way.

we pulled a seven hour day here at crescent beach today, i photographed a part of it and as i did i savored it's greatness, it's aliveness and it's super natural self. i too, stole  some "treasurers" to place on a shelve at home and my girls have played, combed and created all day long.

we smell like fisherman. we feel as tired as toddlers.

it was just a day, here in our paradise.

Kitesurfing in St.Lucia | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photography

on our recent trip to st.lucia, the hubby wanted to learn how to kitesurf.  at the time i totally didn't get it.

now i do!

watching the owner and instructor of aquaholics (simon) take a rip in-between teaching was well, nothing short of INCREDIBLE!  actually that's not fair, i'm pretty sure the entire time he was jumping i was saying holy shit, totally floored.

hubby is hooked. now he's searching for gear on ebay.

six hours will have you in for about $450 us.  simon and his crew are great people- easy going and oh so patient!

i highly recommend this crew and i wasn't even kitesurfing!

St.lucia's sky at night is truly magical | Klutch Photography | Vancouver family photographer

i've never had the desire to capture a night sky before till we arrived here.

greg (my hubby) made the suggestion that i should try, i shrugged it off as a sucked back the last sips of my piton in the pool nearing sundown.

I don't have a tripod with me I responded after i placed my empty bottle of piton on the secure pool edge as we were approaching sun down.

as we continued to chat with our very lovely next door neighbours, who were newly married (shocker! 80% of the peeps down here got hitched like literally like last SATURDAY. i swear.)  the view from our pitch black deck at 8:00pm was nothing less then BREATH TAKING - i quickly changed my mind.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

This was my DIY night sky hack.
