If nothing else is consistent in your life right now, there’s one thing that can be... giving yourself some positive self-talk.

Here’s a crazy truth, you’ll be spending the rest of your life with yourself, the original ” soul mate”, your only “true partner”, your “forever person” ❤️ So boost yourself with loving words, positive encouragement and thoughts of appreciation… you deserve it.

Need some help, go to Pinterest and you will literally FIND thousands of inspirational affirmations and easy ideas to keep you loving the hardest. The best part, these can be done under your breath if your having a hard day, in a fight with a partner or your children.

Wake up and start chanting these like morning prayers, all dam day!

"A family that laser tags together, stays together" | Kluctch Photography | Vancouver Family Photographer

Family Day in BC, for some it’s just another paid day off but to our family, we take our annual Lazer tag outing quite serious. We’re quite a competitive family (me being the best loser of the bunch, obviously because I'm usually the loser amongst us, duh). For the last three years, we headed to Planet laser, It's fairly close to home which makes things easy. Their battlefield is large and full great “hiding spaces” and blue lights, think white shiny teeth (which always reminds me of a bar, remember those days!)

If your competitive AF, where runners and a tank top. if you're not sweating you're not working hard enough, lol! Or maybe it’s my I’m middle-aged and I sweat at night and now I ‘m sweating all the dam time now…I don’t know but I’m sticking with the “you're not working hard enough” statement for now! Why not have fun and get a workout in at the same time.

PRO tip, pay attention to the guy in the beginning, he explains how your gear works, I forgot to “listen” and for the first half of the first game, I couldn’t get my gun to work! WHY, cus I fucking squirrelled and didn’t hear him say HOLD these buttons down while your shooting. Yeah, (insert head shake), also you're understanding why I’m the loser of the bunch, normally!)

You never know how the teams are going to work, some games it's a free-for-all every man for themselves, and others you’re organized in teams of colour…so basically you may never be with your family. Which makes for some pretty funny dynamics. There’s a lot of pregame hand shaking deals going down, “I won’t tag you if you don’t tag me” (AMARA ALWAYS DOES ANYWAY, f’n trader!). We usually do three rounds of tag and that seems to be about perfect for our crew.

In the end, there’s a lot of laughs, sweat and bragging rights. We wrap it up with some dinner out. A pretty much perfect “Family Day” in my books. Oh, and by the way, I pulled it together and beat the kids on the last two rounds!! #WINNING feels good!

I would highly recommend laser tag as a family sport, I mean activity!

Journal Entry No. 49| Harry Potter Night | Klutch Photography| Vancouver family Photograper

I swear I was only in Indigo Chapters so Amara could pick up the book she’s been hunting down for months! I was almost home free too, till she spotted the Harry Potter dressed associates. They were busy putting up HP decorations on the walls of the Grandview Corners location in Surrey BC.

Being Amara is a beautiful thing, she has no fear when it comes to asking strangers questions, or meeting people, or just making new friends (What a gift BTW!). She walked right over and started her Harry Potter investigation. The lovely associates let her know that indeed it was a special event, they were hosting an HP evening that started at 7pm. Full of crafts, slime …STOP did you say SLIME! She didn’t hear anything else after the slime comment, she was sold!

*We don’t make slime at home for good reasons. I think almost every parent who has made slime in their home will completely understand why. If you don’t get it, have a group of 10 year olds make it in your home, then you’ll get it. Better yet, look at the images below.*

It was 5pm, so we returned at 7pm on a school night. Crazy right, BUT this kid loves Harry Potter, and how long before these type of kid events would mean nothing to her. She’s 10…this might be my last one, so of course, I would take her. I also kind of felt it was serendipitous to be at that location, on that day to find out they were having this event that evening. Follow the universe people, I always say, or maybe just follow their Facebook page to be more formally updated on these events, lol!

It was wonderful. The staff were dressed up, with smiles on, and they were so lovely to all the children. They had crafts, a photo prop station, a scavenger hunt, and of course the slime table! The guy hosting the slime table, God bless him…it’s what nightmares are made of!

Amara loved it, and to top off the evening, Starbucks was serving “Butterbeer” ! Nothing like a cupful of sugar, right before bed, lol! But you know what, she will remember this evening! The laughs, the new friends she made, and the fact that we went together on a school night. That for me is pure gold.
